Osama, Terrorism, Despair, and Hope

The world has been in a whirlwind since the news of the death of Osama bin Laden broke late Sunday evening.  Reactions have varied from celebration to condemnation, with many Christians struggling with how they should respond to the death of the world's most notorious killer of the last 2 decades.  In his article, A Christian Response to the death of Osama bin Laden, Randy White revisits the evil acts of bin Laden in recent years:

Osama bin Laden is a clear enemy.  As the leader of Al Qaeda, he is responsible for the death of over 3,000 men, women, and children on 9/11, as well as those who died on the USS Cole, the deaths of US servicemen shot down in Somalia in Operation Restore Hope, the 301 persons killed and 5,000 injured in bombings of U.S. Embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam, the bombing of a synagogue in Tunisia, the deaths of 180 people in a nightclub in Bali, and the list goes on.  Clearly, Osama bin Laden has been the deadliest terrorist of this young century (HT: Worldview Weekend).

Osama bin Laden was a cold-blooded murderer who deserved death.  Christians can rejoice that this wicked man has received temporal justice for his crimes against humanity, and we can rejoice that he can no longer take another innocent human life.  Yet, while we can rejoice that bin Laden is history and can harm us no more, the reality is he is in hell and has yet to face God's final justice - in that, we cannot rejoice, but more on that later.

Although bin Laden is dead, the threat of terrorism did not die with him.  In fact, his death will likely be a catalyst for near-future attacks.  Coincidentally, about a week before May 2, I saw that Wikileaks had released information regarding repercussions of a bin Laden capture or assassination.  In this report, Al-Qaeda threatens to unleash a nuclear hellstorm if Osama is caught or assassinated.  The terrorist organization has supposedly hidden a nuclear bomb in Europe, ready for detonation should Osama be incarcerated or killed.  It is not unlikely that such a threat is imposed within the United States, given our security risks on the border among other things.

In my opinion, killing OBL is another win for Islam.  The U.S. was absolutely justified in this assassination, but the consequences will be more attacks and restricted freedoms.  Not only might Al-Qaeda accelerate its efforts to attack the United States, but there may be an increase in lone wolf terrorists or bin Laden sympathizers to unleash their frustrations against perceived tyranny of the United States.  In fact, Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula publishes a high quality English-language magazine, Inspire, to recruit and instruct Muslims in the West to carry out terrorist attacks in their home countries. They released their 5th edition in April:

With this is mind, the threat of so-called "soft targets" being attacked has significantly increased since the killing of Osama bin Laden.  Security has been heightened in major cities around the country, and agencies are being encouraged to employ security measures that would invade the privacy of American citizens.  The following CBS report explains that routine patdowns may become the norm for entry into these soft targets:



As the next few weeks unfold, we will likely see an increase of Muslims memorializing bin Laden.  In fact, the location of his killing is already becoming a shrine for his admirers, where one Muslims states:

I've come here today to see a piece of our history...Osama was a good Muslim who fought for Islam. He was a hero to us. I expect in time to see all sorts of tourists here, even Japanese and Americans.

This shrine may serve as a rallying point and pilgrimage for bin Laden's followers to pay their respects.  What we are seeing is faithful Muslims supporting one of their heroes - a martyr in their eyes.

Such is the sentiment that may bring about a new wave of terror in the United States. The world is already in turmoil with a failing economy, natural disasters, and Middle East turmoil, and with the perhaps imminent threat of terrorist attacks in the United States and Europe, we can expect more death and restricted freedoms.

So what does this mean for you?  What kind of emotions do you feel knowing that the world has significantly become more volatile, as if it wasn't volatile enough already?  Are you afraid?  Are you fearful of the unexpected?  If all you have is this life now, then there really is no hope for you.  If this world, which ultimately offers you nothing but temporal happiness, despair and death - an evil place where wickedness reigns and immorality destroys, if this world is the only one you have to cling to - then you are utterly hopeless.  At any moment, your life could be taken from you, and the chances of that happening have now increased by the death of one evil man.  

If death knocked on your door today, would you find yourself in the same place as Osama bin Laden?  The truth is, if you are still living for yourself and for this world, if you have need of nothing and are trying to live in a manner that you believe would make you worthy of heaven, then you are just as guilty as bin Laden and will face the same judgment as he will face. While the wrath of God may come down more severely upon bin Laden, God's wrath is still unfathomable upon those who refuse to obey the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.  You may think such a position is incredulous, and I don't blame you, but that doesn't change the reality that you are a law-breaker and deserve the wages of your sin.

Now, for my brothers and sisters in Christ - we have an incredible opportunity to use the killing of Osama bin Laden to proclaim the Gospel.  First of all, as opposed to those without Christ, we have an enduring hope!  As we are secured by grace, it doesn't matter if we should be the victims of a terrorist attack.  We are not to fear the unexpected on this earth, for our hope is in the One who has conquered death and has established a kingdom for us to rule and reign with Christ for eternity!  This is the Hope that is within us, and we must be constantly ready to share this with others.

Secondly, I expect most people are willing to talk about the death of Osama bin Laden.  I can think of no easier way to transition into a spiritual conversation than using this instance to break the ice.  In the days to come, I may put a list of survey questions together to use in witnessing encounters, but for now, consider asking people this simple question: 

Where do you think Osama bin Laden is now?

This will be a springboard for you to eventually ask the person where they will go when they die. 

Most of us have lost people close to us.  The news of Osama bin Laden just might be a catalyst that sparks a new wave of terrorism, which could ultimately play into God's prophetic timetable.  In any case, the hour is now all the more urgent to proclaim the Gospel.  While we really don't know how any of this will play out, God, on the other hand, is in absolute control.  He is sovereign over all nations, people, angels, and devils, and these events are proceeding just as He has ordained them to proceed.  We do not know every detail of the future, but we do know that Christ is returning, and looking at the condition of the world today, I believe He is at the doorstep.

Every Thursday night, Crucial (aka Matt Slyman, who you will meet soon on the Meet the Team page),  and I go to UNC-Charlotte to witness to folks on campus. However, last night we found out the hard way that the school was closed for spring break. So I wanted to check out a local pedestrian-friendly shopping center as a potential fishing hole.

After praying for strength and fertile hearts, we got out of the truck and proceeded to the sidewalk. We made one trip down, across the boardwalk, only to hand out a couple tracts for lack of people.  Because it was so cold and windy, we contemplated on whether to leave.  But we decided to give it one more shot and walked back down to the center of the restaurants and see what would happen.

What was interesting is that we did not have any Trillion-dollar tracts because we “spent” them all last Saturday at Project #2. But what we did have was the Good Person tracts, and this made for an interesting night of tract distribution. Not many conversations, but we did get to hand out 25-30 tracts to the patrons of the Boardwalk Billy’s restaurant and bar. After about an hour, we finally got to have our first real conversation – with Youseff.

Youseff and his family was entering the Asian restaurant when Matt handed the last woman in the group of four a tract. Youseff, who was dressed in Muslim garments, stopped and asked what it was. He hung out with us while his family got their to-go orders.

It was a very interesting conversation and my first in-person witnessing opportunity with a Muslim. The conversation went something like this:

Youseff:  So what is this about?

Us:  It’s got the Good Person test on it

Youseff:  How does it work?

Us:  Well, there’s a few questions to ask people, the first of which is “are you a good person?”

Youseff:  No.

Us:  Well, that’s a great start.

Now, seeing that he did not consider himself to be a good person, I needed to figure another way to take him through the Law to be sure he understood sin. So I continued:

Me:  Well, typically most people say they are a good person, then we ask them if they are good enough to go to heaven. We then take them through the Law of God, the 10 Commandments, and ask them things like -

“How many lies have you told”

Youseff:- oh yeah, lots.

Me: Yeah, me too. So what do you call someone who tells lies.

Youseff:  a transgressor.

Me:  Well, yeah, but more specifically, a liar, right?

Youseff:  right.

I continued with theft, blasphemy, murder, and lust. Youseff admitted to all of these sins and said he lusts often, every day. He understood God knows our every thought and will hold us accountable.

When asked if he would be innocent or guilty and whether that would be heaven or hell, he said guilty and hell.  But he said more or less said that he did not know for sure if he would go to heaven or hell, and no Muslim could know that.

He said it depended upon whether or not he was submissive and obedient to various things, so I asked him if he prayed perfectly 5 times a day. He said he did not. I then asked him how his sins are forgiven, and he didn’t have an answer to my recollection. In hearing how he can never have assurance of salvation, I told him what a fearful way to live, knowing that at any moment you could be sent to hell based on the things you have or have not done.

I then cut to the chase with Youseff. I explained to him that God commanded the Prophet Moses to have the people bring an unblemished animal to the tabernacle, and that the animal’s shed blood sprinkled on the altar would atone for the sins of the people and the high priest, but this was only temporary and needed to be done every year. With his Christian family background and study of the Torah, Youseff knew all about this and recognized that Christ was the perfect sacrifice once and for all (according to Christianity at least).

I then told him, “Youseff, the point is, without the shedding of blood there can be no remission of sins.”  I proceeded to which he agreed, “if God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow, and if truth is reality and does not change, then how could it be possible for God to once establish that without the shedding of blood there can be no remission of sin, but change his mind that it was no longer necessary?”  We also talked about how the Quran considers the Torah to be genuine Scriptures of God, and if God cannot lie and does not change, neither do His decrees change and what is required to go to heaven by coming under the blood of Jesus Christ.

Unfortunately, his family was ready to leave so we had to wrap up the conversation. I gave him my contact information and told him I would love to get together sometime. Youseff was very friendly and pleasant to speak with. I believe we gave him something to consider and pray the Lord would use our conversation to plant a seed that will grow in his heart.

I wanted to share this with you because, obviously, we did not expect to have a conversation with Youseff or any Muslim last night. But knowing a couple things about Islam and how to witness to a Muslim in a manner that would not be confrontational proved to be fruitful. So with that, I’d like to share a couple of resources with you:

Most importantly, in all your witnessing encounters, pray beforehand that God would give you compassion, evident compassion, for all who come across your path. These are divine appointments and we must

Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. 6 Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned, as it were, with salt, so that you may know how you should respond to each person. – Colossians 4:5-6

We must love all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, or religion.  Take every opportunity to show them love and grace, with the hope they would recognize how far they fall short of the glory of God, that they might turn to the Lord Jesus Christ in repentant faith.

Iranium - Nuclear Apocalypse

A must watch to understand the recent political history of Iran, which reveals the fascist ideology of Islam to conquer the world and establish an Islamic kingdom. Iran's ambitions to obtain nuclear weapons is intimately tied to their eschatology, and once achieved, they will surely employ this technology one way or the other to usher in the apocalypse.

Thankfully, God has other plans and Islam will not be successful. We know that Iran will be part of an alliance with Russia and other Islamic regimes to wage war against Israel, and to their demise, God will supernaturally intervene and destroy them all (Ezekiel 38-39). Even so, Iran's intentions to wipe Israel off the face of the earth must not be overlooked. The threat is real and Israel knows it. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for God to protect His people, both the Church in the Middle East, and the Jewish remnant who have yet to know their Messiah. War is coming soon, perhaps to your backyard. Make sure your salvation is secure, as the day of judgment is drawing near.

"I Will Set Egyptians Against Egyptians"

Rocks pepper the air during violent clashes among Egyptians on 2/2/11

Watching the clashes in Egypt unfold Wednesday was disheartening as I saw a people outraged not only against their government, but against their own people. Several days ago Bill Salus from Prophecy News-Stand posted a fascinating piece that I decided to chew on and just see how things unfolded. That was January 28, 2011, and having returned to the article four days later, I can only imagine how close we are to the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Before I rediscovered Salus' article, I was tagged in a note on facebook that touched on this same story. It led me to pick up Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum's The Footsteps of the Messiah (Copyright 2004) to see what was said of this particular passage of Scripture that has been buzzing the internet in the last few days. Admittedly, this is a prophecy I was not aware of, so out of caution, I wanted to inquire of this prophecy expert before researching the topic further. To my amazement, this is what I read on page 94:

In this passage the land of Egypt is in view and the idiom points to a conflict all over the land of Egypt as the nation is engrossed in civil war. 

My mouth nearly dropped open when I read these words. The Scripture in Isaiah 19:1-4 reads straightforward enough, but this confirmation from Fruchtenbaum made it a bit more realistic, enough for me to read it to my wife. We both sat in awe and wonder of what we may be witnessing in Egypt. Here is the passage from Isaiah 19:1-4,

The burden against Egypt. Behold, the LORD rides on a swift cloud, And will come into Egypt; The idols of Egypt will totter at His presence, And the heart of Egypt will melt in its midst. “I will set Egyptians against Egyptians; Everyone will fight against his brother, And everyone against his neighbor, City against city, kingdom against kingdom. The spirit of Egypt will fail in its midst; I will destroy their counsel, And they will consult the idols and the charmers, The mediums and the sorcerers. And the Egyptians I will give Into the hand of a cruel master, And a fierce king will rule over them,” Says the Lord, the LORD of hosts.

Is this what we are seeing before our eyes? Watch this video for instance (you can literally see the rocks flying through the air):

Would you say Egyptians are against Egyptians today? In His Olivet Discourse, Jesus said in Matthew 24:7,

For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.

Jesus is speaking of regional conflict when He mentions kingdom against kingdom. Would you say the Middle East is in total conflict today? Is not Iran waging war against Egypt through a Muslim Brotherhood proxy? Have not the Tunisian and Lebanese governments toppled in the last month? Are not the people of Jordan and Yemen seeking fundamental change of their governments? Should all of these governments become radicalized, will they not all come against Israel as the Bible predicts in Psalm 83 and Ezekiel 38-39? Will not Damascus, Syria become a ruinous heap as prophesied in Isaiah 17:1?

Is not the world's food supply stretched to its limit, which could precede global famine?  Is the earth not experiencing greater earthquake activity and in various places? Is the world not on the verge of a major pandemic? Are not terrorists organizations threatening the use of biological weapons? These are just a few of the signs we are to expect in the last days. Others include an apostate church, merging of religious ideas, a global economy, a global government, and a persecuted Church. Jesus tells us in Matthew 24:8:

All these are the beginning of sorrows (emphasis original).

Prophecy watchers have been sounding the alarm for years that Christ's return is before us. Though we've seen events cycle like birth pangs of a woman in child labor, as she gets closer to delivery, the contractions become more frequent and more intense. My friends, we are in an intense contraction and God only knows when the clock will strike midnight.

If you have been looking for a time to get serious with God and turn from your sinful lifestyle, now is the time. The warnings are screaming of His return, and there is nothing more that must happen before He comes for His Bride, the Body of Christ. Are you sure you are saved? If you have been playing games with your eternity, time is up. Repent and trust in Christ as Lord and Savior, or you will suffer at the hand of His judgment.

Now, time will only tell how things pan out in Egypt and the Middle East. I can't help but believe they will continue as Scripture has foretold, and what we are witnessing is indeed the beginning of sorrows. The footsteps of the Messiah are kicking up dust on the horizon. We believers must step up our efforts to proclaim the Gospel. We must run like never before to the finish line set before us, and may we all pour ourselves out like a drink offering, anxiously awaiting our Savior's return and the crown that awaits us for loving His appearing! Is Shane Claiborne a Christian-Muslim?

The Emergence Of The Mystic Non-Gospel Of Non-Conversion As Everyone’s God’s People

Consider the following from Tony Campolo, who’s one of those Red Letter Christians along with other apostates like Living Spiritual Teacher and Emerging Church guru Brian McLaren, progressive theologian Tony Jones, the heretical “theologian in residence” at the gathering place of his equally heretical universalist pastor Doug Pagitt—who together comprise the unholy trinity of the sinfully ecumenical Emergent Church. Campolo is mentor for another RLC, Shane Claiborne of the New Monasticism, and as I pointed out in Mysticism’s Gospel Of Goodness And Shane Claiborne Campolo would opine and then query the below in one of his books:

a theology of mysticism provides some hope for common ground between Christianity and Islam. Both religions have within their histories examples of ecstatic union with God, which seem at odds with their own spiritual traditions but have much in common with each other.

I do not know what to make of the Muslim mystics, especially those who have come to be known as the Sufis. What do they experience in their mystical experience? Could they have encountered the same God we do in our Christian mysticism?[1]

Notice the double-speak as first Campolo tells us Islam and Christianity both have “examples of ecstatic union with God”; then he muses, “Could they have encountered the same God we do in our Christian mysticism?” Campolo certainly hopes so; this would help him win friends and influence people within Islam, and would by-pass that nasty exclusive message of Scripture e.g. — Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him (Romans 8:9). Yeah, that’s just gonna get in the way of this whole Muslim-Christian thing; so we’ll ignore it because we feel that faithful Muslims, who’re doing “good” in the area of global social reform, must be following God in the way of Jesus.

Ah, I know, even if they don’t personally happen to know it; yeah, that’ll work, salvation by osmosis. Hey in this case, no siree Buddha, we don’t need that old Gospel of repentance and forgiveness of sins in Jesus’ Name.

If someone looks good to us—in other words—hates the evil empire and does good deeds like us, then they’re in; pretty slick, eh. In fact, in that Claiborne article I mentioned above I brought to your attention that, what I’ve just outlined above, is the mystic non-gospel. I showed you by quoting one of Claiborne’s heroes; that would be the late apostate Mother Teresa, who actually took her name out of her respect for so-called “Christian” mystic Teresa of Avila. From my personal copy of her book, following the words of the universalist Mother Teresa, “We never try to convert those who receive [aid from her organization] to Christianity but in our work we bear witness to the love of God’s presence.” The “witness to the love of God’s presence” is mystic-speak, and not trying “to convert” people is simply more man-centered music in tune with those who have itching ears. She goes on to say:

Whether you are a Hindu, a Moslem or a Christian, how you live your life is the proof that you are fully his or not. We must not condemn or judge or pass words that will hurt people. Maybe a person has never heard of Christianity. We do not know what way God is appearing to that soul and what way God is drawing that soul, and therefore who are we to condemn anybody? It matters to the individual what church he belongs to.

If that individual thinks and believes that this is the only way to God for her or him, this is the way God comes into their life — his life. If he does not know any other way and if he has no doubt so that he does not need to search then this is his way to salvation. This is the way God comes into his life.[2]

No doubt people in other religions will love hearing that; but it is dead wrong, and if we truly love God and our fellow man then we will tell them the truth from God’s Word. We’ll do it as lovingly, patiently, and gently, as possible because the Christian has been given the minstry of reconciliation so:

From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.

Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
(2 Corinthians 5:16-21)

But Campolo and Claiborne aren’t interested in that; I think you see why such as these aligned themselves with those who eschew sola Scriptura. Yeah, unfortunately the Bible just keeps getting in the way of their lovefest with Islam so as Campolo says:

Ok, we say hi to Humpty Dumpty again; right Tony, we can keep “trying to convert”…um, “God’s people” and…ah, “even if people don’t convert, they are God’s people.” I see it now; after lying awake as I sleep in the light tonight, I can then start my evening tomorrow morning by taking a shower with cool, dry, hot water. Gothcha boys. And as I close this, for now, in the article I just quoted above Claiborne confesses:

When a devout Muslim brother asked Tony and I to have this cross-generational dialogue about interreligious cooperation for an interfaith publication, we jumped on it. (Online source, emphasis mine)

My question is: If Shane Claiborne has a devout Muslim “brother,” does this now make Claiborne himself a Christian-Muslim? I mean, apparently he’s in the process of approaching this in the opposite direction from those alleged hybrid Muslim-Christians, who’re practicing Muslims that supposedly “love Jesus.” So could it be that, in Shane Claiborne, we’re witnessing a new breed hybrid of Christian-Muslims practicing Christianity but who also love Muhmmad? Ahmadinejad Prays to Hasten Apocalypse

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad made yet another inflammatory speech to the U.N. General Assembly on Thursday. He began his remarks by praying, “O God, hasten the arrival of Imam al-Mahdi and grant him good health and victory and make us his followers and those who attest to his righteousness.” 

Imam al-Mahdi is another name for the “Twelfth Imam” or the “Hidden Imam.” Shia Muslims believe this Islamic messiah will come at the End of Days to destroy Judeo-Christian civilization as we have known it, force infidels to convert or be executed, and will set up a one-world Islamic government known as the “caliphate.” Ahmadinejad believes the way to “hasten” the Twelfth Imam’s coming is to annihilate the U.S. and Israel. This would bring about the “victory” that Ahmadinejad prayed for on American soil. The speech went downhill from there. Ahmadinejad accused the U.S. government of masterminding the 9/11 attacks in order to save Israel. Few in the West, including our leaders, understand what Ahmadinejad and his colleagues in the Iranian government believe. And that’s the problem.

What should we do in response? We need to “get ready” and “be prepared,” according to Ezekiel 38:7. We need to gather in small groups and as entire church congregations and pray for the peace of Jerusalem, and mobilize others to pray, too. We need to travel to Israel to do prayer walks, and worship the Lord, and study and teach the Word of God, and to encourage Israelis that we are standing with them, and that the God of Israel loves them without limit. We need to care for poor and needy Israelis and Palestinians with unconditional love and unwavering support. We need to stockpile humanitarian relief supplies in Israel and build infrastructure to distribute even more emergency aid when the next war comes. We need to strengthen the Church in the epicenter in real and practical ways. We need to help our brothers and sisters throughout the region preach the gospel and make disciples and plant churches and show that Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace and the only hope of reconciliation. Time is short, but our path forward is clear.

ESCALATION: Violence Increasing in Israel

Scott Sykes from Prophecy Update provides a medley of current news to emphasize the increased amount of violence taking place in Israel and how it is underscoring the rapid deterioration of any likelihood of peace negotiations. We continue to see the convergence of end-times events and the situation in Israel seems to be bringing us even closer to the midnight hour. Israel will not remain patient for much longer. As Scott alludes, this twilight-zone-like condition of the world will only worsen as the deception increases - and it surely will. Even so, come quickly Lord Jesus!

ESCALATION: Violence Increasing in Israel

Things are deteriorating rapidly in the Middle East:

"Israel Under Massive Attack"

At least 10 explosions rocked the south from the western Negev to an area between the port cities of Ashkelon and Ashdod. A major electricity generating station and oil and gas pipelines are located in Ashkelon. Ashdod is home to dozens of oil refineries.

Israeli Air Force bombed targets in Gaza Wednesday, killing at least one terrorist after a massive missile and mortar barrage on southern Israel Wednesday morning.

The IDF aerial attack came hours before Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu at his official residence in Jerusalem.

This comes in the face of (once again) failing "peace talks":

The PA reportedly has so far rejected American proposals for a compromise and has rejected Prime Minister Netanyahu's demand to recognize that Israel is a Jewish state..

"War on Peace: Rocket Attack Near Ashdod"

Terrorists in Hamas-controlled Gaza escalated rocket fire Wednesday morning and fired what apparently was a Grad missile that flew over Ashkelon and exploded near Ashdod

A Kassam rocket and at least three more mortars exploded in the Eshkol region south of Ashkelon in the second round of attacks in several hours, bringing to 10 the total number of rocket and mortar fire

The attacks have brought back the era of trauma and anger that reigned over southern Israel two years ago, shortly before Israel launched the Operation Cast Lead campaign against the terrorist infrastructure in Hamas-controlled Gaza.

Several southern Israel leaders called on the government to allow the IDF to return to Gaza and silence the terrorists. However, the attacks apparently are timed to coincide with the Palestinian Authority-Israeli talks for the creation of a new country on the land of Judea, Samaria and Gaza to be headed by the PA, led by Hamas' rival Fatah party.

To make matters even worse, we see the following:

"IDF confirms Gaza militants fired phosphorous bombs at Israel"

Two of the nine mortar shells fired from the Gaza Strip at southern Israel on Tuesday were actually phosphorous bombs, the Israel Defense Forces confirmed.

Militants in the coastal territory also fired two Qassam rockets into Israel, yielding an Israel Air Force strike in response that led to the death of one Palestinian working in a smuggling tunnel on the border with Egypt.

There was also a fear of renewed violence across the border in Jordan, with the U.S. embassy in the country warning of a high chance of terror attacks in the Red Sea city of Aqaba over the coming 48 hours.

In a strong and unusual warning, the US Embassy in Amman, Jordan warned on Wednesday against travel to Aqaba, citing “credible information” that has been received about a possible imminent threat in the region.

Aqaba, located in the south of Jordan, is its only seaport. It is a major tourist attraction in Jordan due to its beach resorts and luxury hotels. Tourists typically go to Aqaba to take part in watersport activities such as windsurfing and scuba diving.

The US Embassy warned US citizens to avoid the downtown and port areas of the city of Aqaba, and recommended that all non-official and personal travel to Aqaba be deferred for at least 48 hours. No details about the nature of the imminent threat in the area were given.

All of the above articles could be summarized below:

"No Deal"

A mortar attack by Palestinian militants and airstrikes by Israel formed the grim backdrop as Mideast leaders ended their latest round of peace talks Wednesday, still divided on major issues. There was no word on when they would meet again.

Militants opposed to any deal with Israel have threatened to derail the negotiations, and the Israeli military said eight mortars and one rocket hit Israel Wednesday -- the highest daily total since March 2009

Israeli warplanes responded by bombing a smuggling tunnel along the Gaza-Egypt border, the military said. Hamas officials said one person was killed and four wounded.

Based on everything we have seen over the past several weeks, it would seem that the focus of the so-called "peace talks" would be around the issue of terrorist related violence and how to curb it, as this increasing violence is targeted at ending the peace talks.

But that isn't the case. In a scenario which is both bizarre and surreal, the focus shifts to Israel instead:

But the most immediate obstacle is the approaching expiration of a 10-month Israeli government curb on construction of housing in areas that the Palestinians expect will form the bulk of their sovereign state.

Huh? No concerns about increasing, daily rocket attacks into Israel?

The stated "crisis" is not about missiles being launched into Israeli civilian regions. Nope. The "crisis" is defined below:

But the leaders face a looming crisis with the expiration this month of Israel's partial moratorium on West Bank settlement construction, and it was not clear when they would reconvene.

But the most immediate obstacle is the approaching expiration of a 10-month Israeli government curb on construction of housing in areas that the Palestinians expect will form the bulk of their sovereign state.

Achieving at least a tacit understanding on West Bank settlements that allows the peace talks to continue is crucial for the Obama administration, which has made an agreement between Israel and the Palestinians a foreign policy priority.

So the crisis isn't the daily rocket attacks, but the crisis is that Israel hasn't given up enough land.

Have I somehow entered a parallel universe? A universe in which everything is upside-down? Where wrong is right and right is wrong? A universe in which NOTHING makes ANY sense? Apparently so. It gets even better:

Mitchell made no mention of the mortar shells fired into Israel by Palestinian militants in Gaza or of Israel's retaliatory air strike on Gaza -- violence that erupted just as the leaders were sitting down for a second day of talks. Clinton and the two leaders had met on Tuesday in Egypt to begin their first substantive negotiations in nearly two years.

Nope. Nothing to see here. What is the problem? So missiles enter Israeli civilian regions every day - forcing parents to fear simple acts such as taking their children to school every morning - or simply running errands in the afternoon - under the constant threat of having a face-to-face meeting with an explosion from an incoming missile. No problem. The problem is that Israel hasn't given away (more) land. OK. I get it -after all we are living in the bizarro-parallel universe.

The sad thing is - if only these "leaders" would read the Bible. They would understand that the "peace deal" will only come with the antichrist when he confirms the covenant of Daniel 9:27. Until then, these efforts will be a complete waste of time.

Meanwhile, we continue to live in bizarro land. And it will continue to be more and more bizarre as the Tribulation approaches.

Shot Heard 'Round the World - Quran Burning

If my life was not covered by the blood of Jesus Christ, I would be very afraid of the coming days and weeks following the planned Quran burning on September 11, 2010 led by Dove World Outreach Center pastor Terry Jones. I am generally very weary of subjective feelings, but yesterday I couldn't help but literally feel the spiritual warfare taking place. And this war is raging.

After initially posting on this Quran burning yesterday in an effort to publicly rebuke and call these people to repentance (HERE), the implications of this burning began to really sink in and weighed on my heart all day long.

Folks, this is serious - deadly serious.

This is so serious that I think it has the potential to spark something unimaginable in the minds of secular people, yet something predictable in the minds of born again Christians as far as the end-times are concerned. As small as this 50-member church is, as little as they represent genuine disciples of Jesus Christ, they may have the fate of the world in the palm of their hands, humanly speaking.

History has shown that it does not take much of anything to send nations to war. The American Revolutionary War and World War I is historical proof of that, and I believe September 11, 2010 may initiate the same.

This Quran burning may indeed be another "shot heard 'round the world".

It is obvious that American troops, military bases, American embassies, and other American assets will be at risk. In fact, the mere rhetoric coming from Terry Jones may have already put us past the point of no return. But there is more to consider, much more.

Terrorism. Islamists have already waged war against the West and are seeking to bring the world under the bloody grip of Sharia law through the caliphate once again. This is in fact a mandate of Islam whose last caliphate fell with the Ottoman Empire in the early 20th century. The terrorist attacks over the last century have proved this politically fascist ideology has not lost its charge since Muhammad founded the religion in the 6th century. The tentacles of Islam are vast through contemporary society, and the militant wing of Islam has done well to shred freedoms around the world through the efforts of the Muslim Brotherhood, HAMAS, the PLO, Hezbollah, al Qaida, splinter organizations of these terrorist groups, and of course state-sponsors of terrorism such as Iran, Iraq, Sudan, and Syria.

It is clear that Islam needs no excuse to wage their war of jihad. But, a Quran burning will most certainly encourage to ramp up their efforts.

Terrorism is coming to a city near you. Consider the European riots sparked by a caricature of Muhammad or remarks made by the pope. It takes hardly a word to bring fundamental Muslims to protest, oftentimes violently. Burning the Islamic text is surely to bring suicide bombings, mass shootings, or worse, the use of a Weapon of Mass Destruction. We have been long overdue for another terrorist strike, and these antics may serve to break the camel's back for the terrorists to proceed with their plans.

The rhetoric from protesters says it all - and I take them seriously,

"If Quran is burned it would be beginning of destruction of America," read one English-language banner held up by the protesters, who chanted "Down with America!" (source)

I do not say these things to strike fear in you. I am hardly a fearmongerer. I just can't help but think what this silly charade will cause. And terrorism may not be the worst of it.

Our brothers and sisters in Christ are now at risk around the world. Missionaries and Christians in Muslim-dominated countries will especially be at risk - Indonesia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Palestinian territories, Syria, Sudan, and Lebanon.

I do not have to tell you a common form of execution by Islamists is decapitation. Public beheading. When will we see the first casualty from this abhorrent ignorance of Dove Outreach? When will the first breaking news report be heard of a mass shooting - execution style or firing line - of born again Christians? By following through with the Quran burning, Terry Jones and his flock do not love the brethren - in fact, they hate the brethren.

We know that Christian persecution has always existed and will increase as we near the return of Jesus Christ. And although this 50-member congregation is anything but representative of the Body of Christ, they may very well be the cause of a significant increase in Christian persecution worldwide. The government already considers us "right wing extremists", and this will only encourage the left to crack down on our religious freedoms.

What I see happening as a result of the Quran burnings is nothing short of devastating. Who knew a single "pastor" and 50 followers could have so much power and influence to send the world into a frenzy and play such a potentially significant role in moving things forward on the prophetic time line.

We at the least will see mass violent protests, and I find it very plausible we will see major acts of terrorism, war, Christian executions, and significant loss of freedoms.

In these last 2 days before the scheduled Quran burning, I ask that you join me in prayer for the protection of born again Christians around the world. I ask that you pray the veil will be lifted from the blind eyes of the people at Dove World Outreach and the Holy Spirit will draw them to repentance. Pray that God will use Christians to be bold in denouncing these hateful acts and that He will be glorified through our testimony. Pray that God will protect our troops and any other body that has the potential to experience this backlash. And pray for the hearts of Muslims to be softened so they can respond to the Good News of the Lord Jesus Christ who gives us the peace that passes all understanding and sets us free from the spiritual and religious bondage the world and the prince of the world offers.

Koran Burning - A Call to Repentance

Most of you have heard by now of the Westboro-Baptist-like antics being planned by Dove World Outreach Center pastor Terry Jones. After reading more about the story this evening, I struggled with whether I wanted to discuss it all as, quite frankly, it doesn't deserve the attention this church is seeking. A few things come to mind: pride, anger, vengeance, hate, and revilement. This Koran burning certainly does not represent peace, love, joy, longsuffering, kindness, love, patience, gentleness, or self-control. So with that in mind, I decided to address a couple of recent comments from this wayward pastor in the hope that the Body will be edified and nonbelievers will understand these actions are inexcusable and not representative of Christ in any way.

I want to be clear that any religion that denies the fundamentals of the Christian faith is indeed demonic. I say this because anything that draws attention and focus away from the person of Jesus Christ as the Son of God, His finished work on the cross to atone for sin, His bodily resurrection, and draws away from He being the one and only Way of salvation is of the devil. It is the antichrist spirit. Thus, anyone who denies these absolute truths forfeits the only way they will see heaven. By denying these truths, they condemn themselves to an eternal hell, and the very point of this blog is to boldly proclaim that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Way, Truth, and the Life and no man goes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). That being said, what Dove World Outreach is planning for September 11 is at best grave ignorance, and at worst evil. Not only are they jeopardizing American soldiers, missionaries, and Christians worldwide, their actions are not exemplary of Christian behavior.

What they are doing is inciting more violence and hatred for Christians. If they cared anything about the souls of Muslims, they would be handing out Gospel tracts or forming an evangelical coalition to witness to Muslims around the globe (after all, they do consider themselves a "world outreach").

Despite protests and death threats, Terry Jones insists they will continue with the Koran burning. They have even been denied a permit from the fire department, yet through defiance will proceed. A rebellious spirit is not a godly spirit.

Showing his ignorance of Scripture, Jones is quoted saying,

We feel it's maybe the right time for America to stand up. How long are we going to bow down? How long are we going to be controlled by the terrorists, by radical Islam? (source)

Reminiscent of the ecumenical patriotism of late (re: Glenn Beck, evangelicals et al), since when is it the church's job to stand up to geopolitical crises? Since when is it the church's business to be entangled with the things of this world? 2 Timothy 2:3-4,

You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. ⁴ No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.

Moreover, since when does the true church, the Body of Christ, bow down to anything but Almighty God? Last I checked, the gates of hell will not prevail against the Bride of Christ. We certainly will never be controlled by another power, especially Islam.

Islam is just like anything else of this world and the only way to change anything about it is to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ to its practitioners. It is likely the only way Islam will be destroyed is by the sovereign hand of God in these last days, but in the meantime, we need to be speaking the truth in love to these lost people, not inciting them to hate us and hate our God.

Responding to the death threats the Dove church members have been receiving, Jones said,

We will not be responsible. We are only reacting to the violence that is already there in that religion. (source)

It seems Jones hasn't read the command of Jesus to love our enemies. Matthew 5:43-45,

You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ ⁴⁴ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, ⁴⁵ that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

Yes, Islam has waged war against the West. Yes, Islam's modus operandi is to infiltrate all fabrics of society and conquer with violence until they can reestablish their global caliphate (which won't happen because God has other plans). Yes, Islam is technically "of the devil" as Terry Jones proclaims. But this is a secular issue in that the church has no business in "standing up for America". That's the government's job - even if they are inadequate or refuse to do so. The decision to burn the Koran on September 11 is foolishness and wicked rebellion.

Consider the following Scriptures,

Ephesians 5:9-11,

(for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), ¹⁰ finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. ¹¹ And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.

Philippians 1:9-11,

And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, ¹⁰ that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, ¹¹ being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

Colossians 1:9-11

...[We]ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; ¹⁰ that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; ¹¹ strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy;

Notice anything about the verse numbers? It was not my intention to pluck relevant verses numbered 9-11, but for some reason I can't and won't chalk it off as coincidence. I'm actually smiling now thinking God had something to do with that. In any case, the text of these passages have an emphasis on the fruits of righteousness - that is, the fruit of Christ Himself. Everything we do, whether by word or deed, must be done in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. And if our actions serve to turn people away, rest assured they are not a fruit of righteousness.

Pride will be the downfall of this pastor and this church. I can only imagine the potential fallout as a result of their actions. No doubt they have been rebuked by a large number of born again believers, and their continued rebellion may very well reveal the nature of their hearts.

International Burn a Koran Day


If just one reader has a change of heart because of this post, I would be very grateful.

This is a call to repentance. This is a call for you to repent from your pride and seek forgiveness of your anger, lack of self-control, lack of humility, lack of meekness, lack of gentleness, and lack of love. I call you to repent and ask forgiveness for placing Americans in danger, and more importantly, for placing your brethren around the world in danger. It grieves me to think a born again believer will lose their head in an Islamic country because of your rebellion. Repent and confess your sins to God as He is faithful to cleanse you from all unrighteousness.

I leave you with these words from the Apostle Paul:

Philippians 2:3-4

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. ⁴ Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.

1 Corinthians 10:31-33

Obama - Muslim or Christian?

A recent article circulating various news sites proclaimed 24% of American’s have made it known that they believe Barack Obama to be Muslim, not Christian, so the media is on a frenzy to prove his Christianity. The fact that everything he does is contrary to God and the fact that he promotes the Muslim faith every chance he gets couldn’t have anything to do with folks believing him to be Muslim, or could it? Perhaps the fact that he was born into a Muslim family with a Muslim father has something to do with what faith he embraces. Muslims claim that all children born into Muslim families are indoctrinated into the Islamic faith. So where would that leave Barack Obama?

The truth is Obama has never publically denounced his Muslim faith, and the fact that he enjoys an especially close association with those who adhere to the religion of Islam could be part of the reason many consider him a Muslim trying to hide himself in sheep’s clothing (pun intended). As we take a look at the people standing alongside Obama claiming he is a Christian, we can readily see they have no concept of just what constitutes the Christian faith.

Consider the following; these Obamaites say he prays every day, so do Muslims. They say he has Christian advisors (debatable), but he’s also saddled himself with Muslim advisors. They say he has his own special way of looking at the resurrection, yeah, as do all Muslims, (in their minds it didn’t happen). And those talking heads that speak for Obama regarding his religious faith, as well as the mainstream media, feel these things prove he’s a Christian.

The fact is, those of us who are actually born again know there is only one way to become a Christian. And it isn’t through the occasional lip service the media deems sufficient proof of one’s Christian faith. To be a “Christian” takes commitment to Christ, and many times we are faced with sacrificing family ties, friendships, even jobs for our faith. Believing in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is a full, lifetime pursuit. There’s really no difficulty in accepting the truth of the Gospel of Christ, the difficulty comes in embracing that truth for life.

How can I be saved? “Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.” John 6:28-29. The people came to Jesus while He was at Capernaum and inquired of Him what they must do to do the work of God. In other words, what must they do to be saved? And what was Jesus’ answer? “… that ye believe on him whom he (God the Father) hath sent.” John 6:29b. How do we believe? By placing our faith, our trust, our very lives in Jesus’ hands. At the moment we’ve done that we are instantly born again (justified in the Father’s eyes) saved for eternity.

This is not just a causal belief system Jesus is referring to. No, our lives will go through a supernatural change. Even our own family members may ask “What happened to you?” Some may even disown us. When we become born again, born from above, born of God we begin a whole new life with a whole different family. Our faith now resides in God; we who are born again trust God and believe His inerrant word.

People listen to Obama as he claims to be a Christian and they believe him. Why? Because those folks have no concept of what it means to be born again. I’ve listened to Obama many times, but I’ve never heard him say he was born again, or when and where his conversion took place. I have heard him say, though, that he believes there are many paths that lead to Heaven, which in turn tells me he believes our Lord Jesus Christ, the one he claims to follow, is a liar (John 14:6).

“You seem to be somewhat judgmental Ron.” Do I? Over and over again, when I write about Obama, predictably I’m sent the scripture verse that reads “Judge not, that ye be not judged.” Matthew 7:1. Excuse me, but Jesus also gives the following admonition: “Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.” John 7:24. Again, predictably, that one they conveniently omit.

The Greek word for judge is “krino” and it means “to call into question”. This is what Jesus means when He says “judge with righteous judgment”. We are to call into question the unbiblical actions of individuals and discern for ourselves whether or not to follow such a person. This is something that is sorely lacking in the Christian community today. It seems everyone is afraid of being accused of judging others. Mostly this misrepresentation of scriptures comes from those who are not following Jesus at all, let alone being biblically knowledgeable. When that verse is used it is always in relationship to someone condemning someone else’s seemingly judgmental attitude. Christians aren’t to condemn, but we are to judge/call into question the actions of others and use biblical discernment to do so.

Obama displays no devotion to Jesus Christ; actually quite the opposite is true. No one can be a follower of Jesus Christ while standing so firmly against Him. No born again believer in Christ is going to promote and advance the Islamic religion. Obama, besides following Satan’s agenda by promoting and declaring Islam to be a religion of peace, is fully following Satan in other arenas as well. Obama is the most abortion happy president in the history of the United States. If he knew his Bible and believed it to be the inerrant word of God that it is, he could never condone the murder of the innocent.

Obama, as sitting president, is the most open and visible supporter of the homosexual agenda in our history. How can a born again believer in Christ stand so opposed to God and His word? How can any follower of Jesus Christ call evil good and good evil? “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!” Isaiah 5:20-21. Old Testament or New, standing against God in any sense is not following Jesus’ admonition “If ye love me keep my commandments” John 14:15.

Here’s another fact that must not be overlooked. Anyone who supports Obama is also a supporter of the same satanic agendas. Whether or not you agree with my above statement is inconsequential, it’s God’s stance on these issues that concerns me and that is where I take my stand using biblical discernment.

Not everyone worships the God of the Bible; but multitudes worship the god of this world. Yet they believe they are worshipping the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. True Christians know that Jesus Christ is the Creator of the Universe, and the One and only God worthy of our worship.

Why doesn’t anyone ask Obama if he believes Jesus Christ is everything the Bible says He is? I’ll tell you why. In a YouTube video Obama has admitted no confidence in the Bible. In this same video he makes statements to the fact that he believes Jesus to be a great teacher, a great humanitarian, but never in that video or in any of his speeches does he refer to Jesus Christ as God Almighty. Obama disparages the Bible; but question him on what he thinks about the Koran, and you’ll quickly see where his allegiance stands.

Perhaps someday Obama will follow his own mantra and make a “change”. He may one day see the truth and actually become a true follower of Jesus Christ. Every one of us should be praying for that day to come soon. But as of this writing that day has yet to materialize and nothing I see coming from this man indicates that a conversion experience is even on the horizon.

I’ll be the first to admit that we are all sinners, but all born again believers in Christ believe the Bible is God’s inerrant word and that those words are not to be taken lightly. Obama claims the Bible contains numerous obscure verses. No, there’s nothing vague, unclear, ambiguous, or doubtful about God’s word.

Many folks claim to be a Christian, just like Obama, but the proof is in the pudding. “Ye shall know them by their fruits. Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 7:16-21.

The fruit America and the rest of the world sees coming from Obama is far from anything that might even minutely resemble a good tree bringing forth good fruit. All we see is corruption and lies “neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.” Jesus says every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit must be hewn down, and cast into the fire.

Obama says this nation is not a Christian nation, a claim he seems to be proud of. I agree this nation is currently far from being a “Christian nation”, but it was established on Christian principles a mere two centuries ago. Yet I’ve never heard that fact brought out in any of Obama’s speeches.

He claims that Muslims are responsible for the majority of the innovations that have occurred over the last few centuries. To say that, one would need to exclude the mass of innovations made by the Jews. Of course we know the Muslims hate the Jews so there’s nothing eye opening about Obama’s statement when one actually understands who and what Obama really is.

Barack Obama believes that all Muslims are worshipping the one true God. He believes this falsehood because he is a Muslim and stands alongside his own. No true follower of Jesus Christ will ever make the statement “Muslims worship the one true God.” It is impossible to make that statement if God’s Holy Spirit dwells within you. Why? Because allah, the Babylonian moon god, is the antithesis of God Almighty.

As stated earlier, there is more to being a Christian than the US news media, or even many citizens of the US comprehend. By and large, most folks have no understanding of God’s word; in the minds of these two groups, the media and many US citizens, anyone who says they’re a Christian must be Christian. Otherwise why would anyone make such an outlandish claim? Why would anyone want to be something many Americans, as well as much of the news media, deplore? In Obama’s case, claiming to be Christian influences people; better stated, he gained the votes of the uninformed Christians through his false assertion that he is one.

Friends, Obama is not a Christian, and those 24% of American’s who were surveyed recently saying he’s Muslim are 100% correct. Will we in this country be forced to live under the regime of this socialist, Marxist, Muslim president for two full terms? God forbid it. After all America may not survive one term under Obama. If you are a Christian, a true born again believer in Christ, and you don’t see the truth about this man yet, hold onto your hats, you soon will.

There is a curse on this Nation, my friends, and its name is Barack Hussein Obama. Pray for God’s intervention in this matter, and soon.

What is Ramadan?

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is considered to be the month of fasting. Muslims are to refrain from eating, drinking, and sexual activity from dawn until sunset. Muslims believe that fasting teaches them about patience, humility, and spirituality.

Muslims are encouraged to pray more than usual during this month and to ask forgiveness from Allah (the name of their god) for past sins and to purify themselves through self-restraint and good works.

Muslims believe that the first verses of the Quran were revealed to the prophet Muhammad at Ramadan, and all Muslims are encouraged to read through the entire Quran during this month.

A Christian Response: We believe that only the true God, the LORD GOD of Israel and His Messiah, our blessed LORD YESHUA, can forgive the sins of any person. Yeshua (Jesus) died for our sins - paid for them with His own blood, and we are saved from sin, death, and hell, by believing that He is the Son of God, the Savior of the world, and the only One Who can save us! Yeshua arose from the dead on the third day after His death, and ascended into heaven and will soon return for those who believe in Him. John 14:6 quotes Him when He said: “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and no one comes to the Father, but through Me.” Acts 4:12 teaches that there is no salvation in any other Person or Name!

Bible-believing Christians have a great desire and passion to present the true gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to the Muslims of this world.

U.S. Should Not Deport 'Son of Hamas'

Mosab Hassan Yousef, author of the New York Times best-selling non-fiction book, Son of Hamas, will be speaking by videotape at the 2010 Epicenter Conference next week. But I can’t wait until then to tell you the latest that is happening with him. He needs our prayers.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security may soon deport Mosab back to the West Bank where he very well could be assassinated. He is scheduled for a DHS hearing on June 30th that could decide his fate. U.S. officials believe his previous leadership role in Hamas is too great a risk to give him political asylum here in the States. But they are not properly assessing the totality of his story and the situation.

Here are the facts:

• Yes, Mosab is the son of one of the founders of Hamas and was a rising leader in the terrorist organization — he described his role in detail in his book.
• That said, Mosab renounced Hamas and risked his life to become a double agent working for the Israeli secret service (Shin Bet) against Hamas.
• In so doing, Mosab helped to stop scores of terrorist attacks and helped Israel arrest scores of jihadists.
• Then, Mosab renounced Islam and became a follower of Jesus Christ.
• His story was first revealed through the Haaretz, one of Israel’s leading and most credible newspapers. The Haaretz team carefully vetted his story and have done numerous follow up stories.
• The Israeli government has not denounced him as a liar — to the contrary, Mosab’s Shin Bet handlers affirm his story and say that he is telling the truth.
• Mosab has lived in the U.S. for the last two years and is actively speaking out here and around the world through the media and in speeches against Hamas, against Radical Islam, and in favor of the U.S., Israel and most importantly his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ.
• The U.S. has given political asylum to people who have done far less for the U.S. and the cause of freedom than Mosab — he deserves and should receive the right to stay in this country and become an American citizen.

Sign a petition on behalf of Mosab

I have gotten to know Mosab over the last 18 months and am convinced he is the real deal. I am, therefore, asking you to pray faithfully and consistently in the following ways:

• Pray for Mosab to have Christ’s peace and joy during such turmoil and stress.
• Pray for Judge Rico J. Bartolomei on June 30th to truly hear and understand all the facts and come to the proper conclusion that Mosab has truly renounced Islam and Hamas, that he is not a threat to U.S. national security in any way, shape, or form, that he should stay in the U.S., and that he would be in grave danger if he were sent back to the West Bank.
• Pray for Members of Congress to take up Mosab’s case and intervene on his behalf with the Department of Homeland Security (my colleagues and I are currently working on this, as are other friends and allies of Mosab).
• Pray that the Epicenter Conference will give his case more exposure so more people can pray — we will be showing video excerpts of my recent interview with him and this will be broadcast on many Christian radio and TV stations in more than 200 countries around the world.
• Pray, too, that the media will raise the profile of Mosab’s case so still more people can learn about it and begin to pray.

Allah is Not Jehovah God

There is a dangerous and unfounded effort by many church leaders to equate Jehovah God of Holy Scripture with Allah, the god of the Islamic religion. Such extreme ecumenicalism is not just plain wrong; it is totally unfair to Bible-believing Christians around the world. It is also unfair to millions of Arab Christians who know Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. This is not a matter of treating Muslim people wrong or persecuting them for their religious belief. Nothing is below the action of any genuine Christian more than to be unkind to a fellow citizen of our America or of another nation. We are all Americans and citizens of the world, and trying to blur the differences of our religious faith does nothing to stop prejudice. The fact: When you try to rob people of the distinction of what they believe, it only tends to enflame prejudice.

It is clear that Muhammad had an extremely good understanding of the Jewish and Christian beliefs but he clearly distorted them throughout his writing. Even his revelations were not revelations that had any semblance of Biblical unity. They were clearly the work of spirits, mental imbalance, or disease-induced fever. The very foundations of Muhammad’s early days were filled with raids on caravans of merchants and nearby communities, terrorist activities that included brutal slaughter of the male population, plus selling the women and children as slaves. He and his early converts were in every detail of their activity, terrorists, just as brutal as those that commandeered those planes over our Northeastern states. This certainly does not suggest that every Muslim has the same mindset.

I want to establish the sheer facts of the religion called Islam. My primary information is from the The New Encyclopedia Britannica, Edition 15, Volumes 22 & 25. This set of encyclopedias was chosen to make sure my information was unbiased. I have no desire to present a false picture of this religion. The Arab people, as a distinct part of the world’s population, must not be treated unfairly. They are creatures of creation by the Heavenly Father. They are in every sense of the word endowed by the Creator with inalienable rights and to choose their religion is one of the choices they must make. We must not persecute or war against them because of their choices. Neither should we try to blend the religions together as though there is no difference. Bible believers in America will not be a part of such a mindless blurring of our faith.

Foundational Facts of Islamic History

The foundations of Islam are dark indeed. The term Muslim means someone that submits himself or herself to Allah. The followers of the Islamic religion are Muslims. Muhammad was the founder of Islam. Actually, the Islam religion was a breakaway from an existing religion with a pantheon of gods and the Kab’ah (shrine) at Mecca had many idols worshipped by the locals and visitors. A description of this shrine and its deities can be researched from many sources. Here is a description from my chosen source. “Thus Mecca became an attractive site for large trade fairs that coincided with pilgrimage (hajj) to a local shrine, the Kab’ah. The Ka’bah housed the deities of visitors as well as the Meccans’ supra-tribal creator and covenant-guaranteeing deity, called Allah. Most Arabs probably viewed this deity as one among many, possessing powers not specific to a particular tribe; others may have identified this figure with the God of the Jews and Christians.” (The New Encyclopedia Britannica, Edition 15, Volume 22, p. 104.)

It is clear that Allah was a part of the large pantheon of gods and the idea of making Allah a monotheistic god was apparently Muhammad’s decision. There is nothing to suggest that Allah had a relationship to Jehovah God of the Bible. In fact, Allah had previously been worshipped as having three daughters that were gods themselves known as “Allah’s Trinity.” Notice this description. “Where more complex settlement patterns had developed, however, widely shared deities had already emerged, such as the ‘trinity’ of Allah’s ‘daughters’ known as al-Lat, Manat, and al-Uzzah.” (Ibid., p. 105.)

When Muhammad first suggested that Allah was the one and only god, he faced incredible resistance and this was one of the first schisms that caused the Meccans to break with him. He was also a threat to their authority because of his visions and the respect of most citizens in those times for superstitious activities.

Muhammad’s Revelations

Muhammad is said to have had visions and revelations almost all of his adult life from about AD 610 until his death. At first he was disturbed by the experiences he had. His first wife, much older than Muhammad, is said to have encouraged him and her cousin began to help him write down the revelations. This cousin, named Waraguh, is reported to having been a Christian. The general condition of Muhammad during these visions plainly shows from a Biblical point that they were demonic instead of Christian. The first rule for a vision or revelation in the Christian community is absolute harmony with the Bible. While there are some ideas in Muhammad’s revelation that have principles of Bible truth the majority of his thoughts fail miserably.

First, let’s look at his physical conditions when receiving his revelations. “In his later experiences of receiving messages there was normally no vision. (Occasionally there were physical concomitants, such as perspiring on a cold day, and these gave rise to the suggestion, now agreed to be unwarranted, that he was an epileptic.) Sometimes he heard a noise like a bell but apparently never a voice. The essence of such an experience was that he found a verbal message in his heart – that is, in his conscious mind.” (Ibid., p. 2.)

As the traditions of the Islamic religion are described, there was a very clear explanation of Muhammad’s revelations. Nothing in these revelations has a Biblical precedence. While Gabriel is credited, the explanation shows nothing but a spirit of some nature. “The angel Gabriel brought the Qur’an down to the Prophet’s ‘heart.’ Gabriel is represented by the Qur’an as a spirit, but the Prophet could sometimes see and hear him. According to early traditions, the Prophet’s revelations occurred in a state of trance when his normal consciousness was in abeyance. This state was accompanied by heavy sweating. The Qur’an itself makes it clear that the revelations brought with them a sense of extraordinary weight: ‘If we were to send this Quar’an down on a mountain, you would see it split asunder out of fear of God.’” (Ibid., p. 7.)

All of this is described as coming from a “Mother’s Book.” This laid the foundation for the Islamic people to believe that the revelations of Muhammad are infallible. “This phenomenon at the same time was accompanied by an unshakable conviction that the message was from God, and the Qur’an describes itself as the transcript of a heavenly ‘Mother Book’ written on a ‘Preserved Tablet.’ The conviction was of such an intensity that the Qur’an categorically denies that it is from any earthly source, for in that case it would be liable to ‘manifold doubts and oscillations.’” (Ibid., p. 7.) The presence of sweating, a state of trance where normal consciousness is absent, heaviness upon the body, all suggest a spirit indeed, but not a spirit or angel from Jehovah God. These are the kinds of activity always associated with evil and false demons operating for Satan to deceive and destroy the true faith of Holy Scripture.

Jesus Christ: Not The Divine Son of God

This point would create no problem for Orthodox Jews because we are all aware that they reject Jesus Christ as the promised Messiah. Yet, for the Christian, it clearly reveals the impossibility of Allah being Jehovah God. Here is a plain statement, eliminating the trinity of Jehovah God and denying the Sonship of Christ. “The doctrine about God in the Qur’an is rigorously monotheistic: God is one and unique; he has no partner and no equal. Trinitarianism, the Christian belief that God is three persons in one substance, is vigorously repudiated. Muslims believe that there are no intermediaries between God and the creation that he brought into being by his sheer command: ‘Be.’” (Ibid., p. 6.)

They do teach that Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary, but was saved from crucifixion from the Jews by God. “Not only was Jesus born from the Virgin Mary, but God also saved him from crucifixion at the hands of the Jews.” (Ibid., p. 7.) They believed that Jesus was a prophet, but that “All prophets are human and never part of divinity; they are simply recipients of revelation from God.” (Ibid., p. 7.)

Muhammad Was A Terrorist

No one can follow Muhammad to the letter without becoming a terrorist. From the very beginning, monies to fund his activities were gathered by raids on merchants and communities. In describing Muhammad’s followers at the very beginning of his development at Medina, we see this description. “A few emigrants carried on trade in the local market run by a Jewish clan. Others, with the approval of Muhammad, set out in normal Arab fashion on razzias (ghazawat, ‘raids’) in the hope of intercepting Meccan caravans passing near Medina on their way to Syria. Muhammad himself led three such razzias in 623. They all failed, probably because traitors betrayed the Muslim movements to the enemy. At last, in January 624, a small band of men was sent eastward with sealed orders telling them to proceed to Nakhlah, near Mecca, and attack a caravan from Yemen. This they did successfully, and in doing so they violated pagan ideas of sanctity – thereby making the Meccans aware of the seriousness of the threat from Muhammad.” (Ibid., p. 3.)

Further description is as following, “In March 624 he was able to lead about 315 men on a razzia to attack a wealthy Meccan caravan returning from Syria. The caravan, led by Abu Sufyan, the head of the Umayyah clan, eluded the Muslims by devious routes and forced marches. Abu Jahl, the head of the Makhzum clan, however, leading a supporting force of perhaps 800 men, wanted to teach Muhammad a lesson and did not withdraw. On March 15, 624, near a place called Badr, the two forces found themselves in a situation, perhaps contrived by Muhammad, from which neither could withdraw without disgrace. In the ensuing battle at least 45 Meccans were killed, including Abu Jahl and other leading men, and nearly 70 taken prisoner, while only 14 Muslims died. To Muhammad this appeared to be a divine vindication of his prophethood, and he and all the Muslims were greatly elated.” (Ibid., p. 3.)

We can hardly comprehend a great prophet receiving direct revelation from God, who at the same time must fund his new religion by stealing and robbing innocent people. The terrorist activities did not end with just robbing and stealing but also unwarranted slaughter and the selling of slaves resulting from his raids. Once Muhammad had secured his control of Medina he proceeded to reign terror on the citizens that refused his religion. “After the siege of Medina, Muhammad attacked the Jewish clan of Qurayzah, which had probably been intriguing against him. When they surrendered, the men were all executed and the women and children sold as slaves.” (Ibid., p. 4.)

Please note that he killed the men after they surrendered and then sold their wives and children as slaves. Over and over you find these kind of terrorist tactics characterizing his lifestyle and methods. The Jews could not accept Muhammad’s new religion so they were seen as enemies almost from the first day. Soon to follow were the Christians and their communities. While he had made some friends among Christians, that soon turned to hostility. “Some of the tribes near Syria were Christian and adhered to the Byzantines; chiefly as a result of this, Muhammad’s earlier friendship for the Christians, notably those of Ethiopia, changed to hostility.” (Ibid., p. 4.)

Holy Warfare (Jihad) From The Beginning

Deny it as we may try, “Holy War” or “Jihad” is a fundamental concept in the Islamic religion. Certainly, there are Islamic people that reject that idea. National leaders among the Islamic nations vary in how they see this issue and none of us will know the final purpose of one and all. Yet, the idea is fundamental to this faith if words mean anything as history verifies. Look at this expression again from the Encyclopedia Britannica. “However much the concept and practice of holy warfare is repugnant to many minds today, in the context of Islam it implies a sensitivity to evil and a conviction that evil has to be resisted and overcome in a total dedication.” (The New Encyclopedia Britannica, Edition 15, Volume 25, p. 701.)

The facts are clear. “Although greatly maligned by medieval European scholars – whose opinions still retain some influence – Muhammad came to be viewed more objectively in the 19th century. Some of the evidence against him, such as his connivance at assassinations and his approval of the execution of the men of a Jewish clan, are historical matters that cannot be denied.” (The New Encyclopedia Britannica, Edition 15, Volume 22, p. 4.)

The idea of “jihad” comes clearly to the front row in the Islamic theology because of this “community concept.” Listen to this intellectual description of the Islamic concept. “With this socioeconomic doctrine cementing the bond of faith, the idea of a closely knit community of the faithful who are declared to be ‘brothers unto each other’ emerges. Muslims are described as ‘the middle community bearing witness on mankind,’ ‘the best community produced for mankind,’ whose function it is ‘to enjoin good and forbid evil’ (Qur’an). Cooperation and ‘good advice’ within the community are emphasized, and a person who deliberately tries to harm the interests of the community is to be given exemplary punishment. Opponents from within the community are to be fought and reduced with armed force, if issues cannot be settled by persuasion and arbitration.

“Because the mission of the community is to ‘enjoin good and forbid evil’ so that ‘there is no mischief and corruption’ on earth, the doctrine of jihad, in view of the constitution of the community as the power base, is the logical outcome. For the early community it was a basic religious concept. Jihad, or holy war, means an active struggle using armed force whenever necessary. The object of jihad is not the conversion of individuals to Islam but rather the gaining of political control over the collective affairs of societies to run them in accordance with the principles of Islam. Individual conversions occur as a by-product of this process when the power structure passes into the hands of the Muslim community.” (Ibid., p. 8.) This entire idea is scary indeed.

Humankind: Some More Human Than Others

There is no other major religion in the world that sees certain races of humans as of less value than their own kind. Yet, this is very true within the Islamic theology. One of the big points in the Encyclopedia Britannica was concerning the Islamic view of man. It stated, “According to the Qur’an, God created two apparently parallel species of creatures, man and jinn, the one from clay and the other from fire. About the jinn, however, the Qur’an says little, although it is implied that the jinn are endowed with reason and responsibility but are more prone to evil than man. It is with man that the Qur’an, which describes itself as a guide for the human race, is centrally concerned. The Judeo-Christian story of the Fall of Adam (the first man) is accepted, but the Qur’an states that God forgave Adam his act of disobedience, which is not viewed in the Qur’an (in contradistinction to its understanding in the Christian doctrine) as original sin. ” (Ibid., p. 7.)

This view that there is a class of “Jinns” (other humans, not Islamic) can lay the foundation for calling Jews, monkeys and pigs as we have been hearing in Israel. How far this prejudice reaches in the Muslim communities no one really knows that I have found. You cannot look at the world’s situation without wondering how much of this attitude is affecting the way men think.

Conclusion

Our purpose in this article is not to create dark emotions toward Arab people. In fact, this article has nothing to do with Arab people, but only with the Islamic religion. Millions of Arabs are American citizens, as well as many spread around the world. A tremendous number are friends of Israel, flag waving Americans, Bible-believing Christians, and indeed wonderful citizens of the world communities.


As already stated, there must not be ill treatments of those who believe in Allah. It is wrong to use your faith to try and impose it on someone against his or her will. The citizens of Islamic countries should be absolutely free to choose the Christian faith, while citizens of any country should be free in the religion of their choice. The Word of God offers no hope of salvation to anyone that does not make his or her own personal choice to receive Jesus Christ. Conversion by cohesion is not possible. You would not have a convert; you would have a slave.

If you are a Bible-believing Christian, it is your responsibility to defend the truth of one God, our Heavenly Father, and one Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. If you compromise this point, there is nothing left worth believing in.
